The novel follows a non-linear narrative structure, beginning at a point approximately midway through the overall plot. I wanted a comprehensive book on bamboos in order to help me take care of some new outdoor-privacy purchases. This book *does* contain quite a bit about the plant, but it's very, very s: it includes (not so great) poetry about bamboo in unexpected places, and the entire first 3/4 of the book seems to be a -- albeit interesting but mostly useless -- catalogue about the historical Cited by:   Alison Flood: A chilling speculation on the fate of Franklin's ill-fated expedition to the Northwest Passage, with added horror to thoroughly freeze your blood.

This book needs all the reducing it can get, but in the interest of fairness I should say that “The Terror” could also be described as a large, ambitious historical novel about one . Bamboo Books. The bamboo books suggested in my recommendations and book reviews are for subjects about bamboo such as: bamboo crafts, flooring, bamboo plant books, gardens and gardening with bamboo, bamboo building and construction books, furniture, fishing rods, books on caring for bamboo and Japanese garden design. The book provides a detailed manual for bamboo constructions and presents a broad selection of built examples, among them the spectacular bamboo pavilions of the Shanghai World Exposition, a parking garage in Leipzig, Germany, the Nomadic Museum in Mexico City and Richard Rogers Terminal 4 at Madrid Airport. Bamboo's amazing versatility, strength, workability, and beauty have given it a longer and more varied role in human culture than any other plant known to humankind. This acclaimed sourcebook details the myriad ways in which this extraordinary plant is now used and presents many options for its use in the future. A bounty of facts and lore, the profusely illustrated book 5/5(2).
